Station 13

Look for Station 13 to the north of Texas Roadhouse on Lehi Main Street.
This morning seemed like a great morning for a donut, so we went to try Station 13. We've driven past this place hundreds of times, and it's hard to spot. Station 13 is located in Lehi just off the Main Street exit. Drive east toward Costco, and you'll find the narrow building hidden on your left directly north of Texas Roadhouse.

There were a lot of things to like about Station 13. First of all, they have wonderful donuts (and many different types). Mom, who had the chocolate chocolate donut (of course) declared it the best she'd had in years. Dad preferred the breakfast choices instead. We ordered both a kolache and breakfast burrito-- both for around $3. The kolache is like a Danish, but we got ours filled with bacon, eggs, and cheese. The breakfast burrito had potatoes, sausage, eggs, and cheese. Both were really good, and very filling-- so filling that we both skipped lunch, even though we ate breakfast around 9am!

Dad loves anything with bacon-- even his first kolache.
Our four year old ate a lot of it, too.

There are lots of kinds of donuts,
some even covered with Fruity Pebbles.

They also have drinks that match donuts. We love hazelnut steamers (they brought us together 12 years ago in San Francisco, but that is another story), so we tried those. They were the one item we wished had a little stronger flavor. Luckily, they were much cheaper than Starbucks.

The reason we wanted to review Station 13*, though, was not because we are becoming a food blog. They have an interesting playplace for little ones. In the corner of the restaurant, they have a large playmat with blocks, books, and a few other toys. There are even some baby toys that our 1 year-old loved. Best of all, the bigger boys dressed in authentic fireman clothes including boots, pants, coats, and helmets and posed next to the fireman mascot. We ate breakfast and chatted while our boys were entertained which is a rare experience for us.

The children's play area...our one year old cried when we left.

Here are our cute firefighters.
It must be a Dad pic. It's a little blurry.

Here's another firefighter picture!
We should also note that the owner came out to talk to us and ask about our meal, even though he didn't know that we'd be reviewing Station 13. He was really friendly, and took several minutes with us answering our questions.

If you are up for a quick breakfast, let the kids play while you eat at Station 13.

They didn't have mint donuts today,
but I hope they do when I go back (maybe for St. Patrick's Day)
because I love mint and chocolate together!

Maple donuts with bacon are always popular.
