Frontier Museum in Monticello

The Frontier Museum is connected to the
Southeast Welcome Center in Monticello.

Monticello, Blanding, and Bluff have rich Pioneer histories, and each has a unique way of presenting their story. The Frontier Museum is a small pioneer museum. It's feature item is a huge tractor made in 1912. You can't miss this exhibit because it occupies its own building on Main Street. The rest of the museum is housed next door, and there are several exhibits that feature local pioneer items. You'll see a replica of downtown Monticello in its early days. There are artifacts that have been collected from this time including the old telephone operator switchboard and tractor implements (located outside). You'll also find a small section of Native American artifacts, and a few minerals and stones in this museum.

This museum is free, so you should stop by if you are in Monticello. The Frontier Museum is located at 216 S Main St in Monticello and is open 9 am - 3 pm from October to March, but 9 am - 6 pm in summertime. This museum is closed on Tuesdays.
