Gooosenecks State Park

Goosenecks State Park is unique because it is a state park that you just drive out to look at the view. There is no hiking, but there are a few picnic tables and you are allowed to camp here. It costs $2/vehicle. There are restrooms and an overlook, and not much else.

But, the view is fascinating. We looked for a long time at the twisting, turning river. Why would the San Juan River do that? It has carved a huge winding canyon. And it is a large area so you can't photograph all of the Goosenecks in one shot.

Goosenecks State Park is located near Mexican Hat off of Highway 261. Watch for signs for the turn off to the park. It is about a 5 minute drive off the highway to Goosenecks.

There are three Goosenecks.

That river is crazy, right?
