Holdman Christmas Lights

Tonight we went to see the Holdman Christmas lights. This an all-out light display put together by a family from Pleasant Grove. The cool part is that the lights are coordinated with music on a radio station. Just tune your radio to 99.9 FM and watch as the lights bounce and change to the music! There is a loop of seven songs that play, and the lights dance and bounce to the beats. We really enjoyed the music (currently looking for it on the Net) because there are dance mixes of Music Box Dancer, Jingle Bells, and Amazing Grace.  The boys even got out and danced next to our van.

This display has become so popular (it was featured on the local news last year) that the gated community in which it is located has only opened its gates on 8 nights in December. The lights are only displayed from 6:30-9:30 on these days. For a complete list of days and times, visit the Holdman’s website at www.holdman.com/Christmas.

The house can be a little tricky to find. You can print a Google map and find the address (which won’t help much) at the website above, or follow these directions:

From the south side of the Mount Timpanogos Temple, head East on 700 North (which turns into 2600 N).
Turn left (North) on 900 West.
Turn right (East) on 3300 North and you’ll go right through the gate.
*Note: The addresses don’t jive up because two cities merge here.

There are a few matters of etiquette mentioned on the website to consider: no honking, blocking traffic, etc. Also please turn off headlights and don’t stay through more than 1 seven song show. It wasn’t crowded when we were there, but it can be very busy.

Though this display is free, you may wish to donate at the gate to the Make a Wish Foundation.

Here are a few pictures of the lights and our family watching them.

We sat in the back of the van to enjoy the lights.
