Monte L. Bean Museum

Today we went to the Bean Museum down at BYU in Provo. This museum has many dead animals to see.  They have the museum divided into sections—Utah animals, birds, insects, big cats, and much more.  The museum usually has a special exhibit that changes every few months.  Right now (January 2011), they have a Bee exhibit.  My kids weren’t too interested since it was just pictures of bees, and close-up abstract pictures at that.  If you happen to be there when a school is on a field trip, you might catch one of their live shows.  They also do them in the evenings.  Our favorite is the reptile show because they bring out live snakes, turtles, and lizards, and the kids are allowed to touch them.  The best part of the museum is it’s FREE.  On Wednesdays at 11:00 am there is a story time as well.   We have never been to the story time, but I am going to try and plan that in next time we go down to Provo.  The museum in located just east of the Marriot Center.  Check out their website for their evening show times, hours, and location.
