The Farm at Thanksgiving Point

Tonight we took our boys to the Farm at Thanksgiving Point. We've done this adventure a bunch of times, but we realized that we had never written about it before.

So excited for the farm.

The Farm is part of the same property as the Dinosaur Museum, so if you have a Thanksgiving Point pass, you can go in for free. Otherwise it's $5/person. They have a ton of farm animals including goats, several kinds of horses, cows, sheep, rabbits, and pigs. The also have all the farm birds like geese, ducks, turkeys, several kinds of chickens, and pheasants. There are a few rare animals like guanaco (similar to alpaca or llamas) and african goats, too. You can feed the animals if you bring a few quarters to put in the machines filled with feed. Our boys like to watch us feed the animals--they're not quite sure about doing it themselves.

Our favorite part of the Farm, though is the rides that come with your paid admission. The first is a pony ride. Yes, this is your basic ponies-walking-in-a-circle ride, but the kids don't seem to mind. The second ride is a wagon ride. The wagon is pulled by two huge Belgian horses. Much of the ride is on the paved road, but there is still the gentle sway and clip-clop of a horse ride to enjoy.

That's about it. There is small museum/gift shop type area, but most of the exhibits are pretty battered and there is not much to do there. Still, we find the Farm to be a pretty fun way to spend an hour or two.
