Perseid Meteor Shower

We've been watching the sky closely this summer. We've seen a solar eclipse, lunar eclipse, and transit of venus. We also found The Big and Little Dippers, Cassiopeia, Orion, Taurus and Pleiades.

Next weekend on August 11th and 12th the sky puts on its next show. The Perseid Meteor Shower is the best annual meteor shower and happens every year (generally in early August). You can see the meteor shower after midnight on Friday and Saturday night, but you'll probably have to go to a dark spot to get away from city lights. There are supposed to be 100 meteors per hour visible (almost 2 per minute) and they tend to be the brightest of any shower.
