Stringtown Nightmare Express Train Ride

We loved this train!
There is a really cool train ride going on in Lindon. The Stringtown Nightmare Express covers several properties and offers free admission (though a $2 donation is suggested). We went before dark so no spooks were out, and the kids loved it.

This event reminds me of a spook alley gone wild. A tiny train shuttles adults and children on a surprisingly long trek through many short tunnels each with a "scary" scene. Our 3 and 6 year olds weren't scared at all, and our infant rode along, too. Most of the tunnels had real people (children before dark) dressed up as spooks. Be sure to bring the little ones in costume, too!

They have two trains going!

Here was the engineer of our train.

They have small tunnels all over. Each one is filled with a different Halloween scene.

Inside one of the tunnels. We liked seeing the children acting their "scary" parts.

To get to Stringtown, take the Lindon exit (1600 North Orem) and go east to 400 West in Orem (this is on the east side of State Street). Turn left (north) on 400 West. Follow this road for about a mile-- as you cross into Lindon, 400 West becomes 400 East (take it up with the city offices!). When you get to 200 North in Lindon turn right, and you'll see the "train station."

Better hurry on this one. The Spook Alley Train runs through Halloween. Train rides begin at 5pm and end at 9pm (10pm on Friday and Saturday). If you'd like to come to the kiddie hours, be there before 6:30pm. (Closed Sunday).

Once you enter, there is a path to follow to the train. We hear sometimes there is a long line.
We arrived right at 5:00 and didn't wait at all.

There are a few places to walk through on the way to the train station.
While you wait, they have a Halloween movie playing.

The train ride is free, but they recommend a donation.

  1. Oh, I'm so glad you went! And did a review on it!!! Sounds so cool. We're not going to make it this year. One more thing on our list, and I just had to say NO. But seeing your pics made me so excited! Next year.
