Tonight we drove up to South Salt Lake to check out a residential Christmas light display. This display is called "Christmas Utah," and you can find out more about it on this website.
The display has tons of lights and is definitely worth the trip (even if you sit in traffic for 30 minutes like we did). The lights are also set to music. Tune your radio to 99.9 as you pull into the neighborhood.
There are talking Christmas trees that narrate the action, and Rudolph also has a few lines. One interesting twist that we'd never seen before was a television inside the house. It was set next to the window and had images of Santa. So it looked as if Santa were mugging and waving out the window at you.
This would be a great companion to another South Salt Lake display called "Christmas Street." We didn't make it to that one tonight because of a potty accident. Watch the blog for more details on Christmas Street and combine these two experiences.
To get to Christmas Utah, take I-15 to 5300 South exit. Go east until the road ends at Vine Street. Turn right and go through two stop lights (the second one is 5600). Go past the church on the left (east) and turn left on Whispering Pine. Go up the road and turn left on Whispering Pine Circle (the first and only left). There is a small bit of parking in the cul-de-sac. Turn off your lights, turn on the radio, and enjoy the show.
3 faces narrate the show. Here is a short clip of the light show. |
FYI: On the Christmas Utah website he says he moved and will be taking a year off. Just so no one drives there for no lights!
ReplyDeleteYes, it's true! Christmas Utah is taking 2012 off, but get ready for 2013 in a new location. We'll keep you updated.
