Provo River Cruise

Tonight we tried a new adventure. We headed down to Provo and took a ride on the Provo River. Clas Ropes runs these cruises, and they actually pull you along in the boat using overhead ropes, which is kind of fun. There are lights along the river and sometimes all the way across. They pull you one way, and then back the other way while Christmas music plays in the background. The highlight of the trip was when Santa rowed up in a canoe. He high-fived all the kids and left his hat which was full of candy.
Passing lights on the water.
Here comes Santa Claus!
We have wanted to try this adventure for awhile because it is so unique. We have never been on a boat to see Christmas lights. My boys enjoyed the ride--it was their first time on a boat and so that was exciting to them. I'm not sure the ride is worth the $8/adult, $5/kid that we paid. It was about a 20 minute ride, and half of it you are just going backward past the same lights you already saw. I think that they could make this activity amazing, but unfortunately it didn't leave me wanting to go back and spend that money again.
All the children were required to wear life jackets.

Getting ready to ride the Christmas Cruise.
Looking back at the lights as we head the other way!

In October, there is a Halloween Cruise and they put jack 'o' lanterns all along the river and tell spooky stories. I'm not sure it would be appropriate for children, but maybe fun for a date night.

Check out their website for more info: Clas Ropes Christmas Cruise
They have a coupon for a dollar off your ticket price.
